We’re going from Iowa to Texas in my sessions, because that’s exactly what I did at the beginning of last November, with a few days in Oklahoma in between. I love that I get to travel so much for photo shoots every year. And I really love going to Texas for so many years now to do Nicole and Dane’s family photos. I photographed their wedding way back in 2008 in Napa Valley. A few years later, they moved to Texas, and I’ve been photographing them their every year since. Their kiddos are THE MOST FUN during photo shoots, as you can see from the images here. :) We also did some quick headshots of Nicole during this session. I love to grab whatever kind of photos people need during a shoot. No need to book multiple sessions if we can do it all at once.
I'm Abi Ruth, located in OKC. You can find me on all the social media platforms.
Hey, we’ve made it to November in my session posts! That means I’m only two months behind now. If I keep up this pace, I’ll be caught up in no time. :)
This is one of my lifelong best friends, Amy, and her lovely family. Amy is a rare gem of a person. You could ask anyone who has ever met her and they would agree that she is truly good, kind, fun, cool, and all the other positive adjectives you can think of when it comes to awesome human beings. I am forever thankful for Amy and for how our friendship has shaped my life.
We did this session on a beautiful but freezing cold and windy fall day in Iowa. Phil and Amy and their kiddos were such troopers and smiled for me like they weren’t even cold. :) Phil knew the best places in Davenport to go for protection from the wind and a gorgeous background. Weren’t the leaves so stunning in color??
This beautiful girl Claira is my cousin’s daughter. I am so happy she had me do her senior portraits. Claira is model material! We shot her pictures on a gorgeous fall day at the end of October in Iowa. I really love how they turned out!
Well, here we are in the second week of 2021, and I am just now sitting down at my computer to post more of my photo shoots from last year. I am going to try to work steadily through the rest of 2020 sessions as quickly as I can in the next few weeks.
January is typically a slower month for many photographers, although this week has in a few bookings for the rest of the month. I’m excited to get back to shooting, but I also want to try to use my down time to catch up on sharing sessions on here and on my social media pages. Ideally, I would get all caught up on sharing and be able to do a blog post right when I give my clients their images. :)
For now, though, I’m throwing it back to last fall and sharing some favorites of my dear friend Katherine and her gorgeous family. Seriously, they could all be models! It’s a joy to photograph them, but even more of a joy to know Katherine. She is one of the most thoughtful, genuine people ever. I’m thankful for our many years of friendship!
Katherine’s husband Boz actually contacted me before we did this shoot to see if we could do some updated headshots for him and Katherine at the same time as we did their annual family photos. For one thing, the answer to that will always be “yes” from me! And two, I extra-appreciate it when a guy takes the initiative on booking shoots, because guys notoriously dread photo shoots, or so it seems. Since I have photographed Boz and Katherine for several years now, it makes me so happy to know that he doesn’t dread having me do photos too much. :)
My niece’s bff had another perfect baby girl, so we did a newborn session to capture her tiny sweetness. This is Keegan. Isn’t that such a cute name? Her big sister is named Hunter. Their mama Taylor wins at the name game. :) Also she wins at making cute babies! <3
For years, I believed I wasn’t very good at newborn sessions, but now I truly enjoy doing them and I think I’ve gotten really good at documenting babies in this adorable early stage of lie.
