liebster award nomination ~ ten random questions and answers

The lovely Kristen, of Miss Southern blog, nominated me for the Liebster Awards.  I had never actually heard of this before, but was instantly flattered and on board with answering some fun questions:

  1. What are the two things that you can’t leave the house without each day?  My iPhone, of course {I am sadly dependent on it and can’t figure out how I used to live life without it} and my glasses {yes, they’re prescription!}.
  2. What is the one thing that is most important to you to accomplish every week?  Pretty much every single week, I have photos to edit and get out to my photography clients, so that is usually an important item on my to-do list.
  3. How has blogging made an impact on your life?  In tangible ways such as photo jobs {that came as a result of people seeing me post my work} and new friendships, and intangible ways such as self-expression and self-reflection — overall, I’d say it has led to positive personal growth.
  4. Where is the most adventurous place that you have traveled to?  Probably Hawaii, where I snorkeled and explored with my friend Heather years ago.  But I’m traveling to Alaska next month, and I am super excited about the adventurous possibilities there!
  5. What does your evening routine look like?  I’m taking this to mean my “bedtime routine”, which goes something like this: shower or bathe, clean my face with natural products I mix up {such as oils, or a honey/cinnamon scrub}, brush my teeth, then lie in my bed looking at stuff on my phone until I force myself to stop and go to sleep {this is one of my shameful worst habits}.
  6. What is your biggest career accomplishment?  Building a solid photography client base with the wonderful added bonus of building genuine friendships with many of those clients along the way.
  7. Your cravings are usually salty or sweet?  Since being in my thirties, I definitely crave salty {or savory} over sweets.  Ten years ago, it was a different story – I used to say I wished I could just survive on cheese and ice cream, ha!
  8. What do you find most attractive in a man or woman?  Confidence!  I know that is such a cliche answer, but it is oh-so-true.  Also high on the list: hard worker, a sarcastic sense of humor – and above all, a love for Jesus!
  9. How has life changed the most for you in the past five years?  Oh my.  So many ways!  My brother was killed five and a half years ago while serving in the Special Forces, which obviously impacted pretty much every area of my life.  Then I turned thirty a little over four years ago, which brought along more self-examination and changes.  I went through a really rough non-relationship-relationship with a guy who broke my heart, spent a year going to counseling, moved out from living with my sister {who I had lived with my entire life}, convinced my grandma to move from out of state and be my roommate, lost some friendships and developed new ones, and worked a whole lot on my most important relationship: the one I have with my Savior, Jesus Christ.  So that just gives you an idea of how life has changed for me in the past five years.  I’m looking forward to what the next five bring my way!
  10. You only have five dollars to spend today, what do you spend it on?  Whatever treasures I can find at a thrift store for less than five bucks! :)

Now I’m supposed to nominate some people and create a list of questions for them to answer, but instead I’d like to open this up to my readers.  I think Kristen did an awesome job coming up with unique questions!  Which question {or questions} did you like the best, and what’s your answer for it??
