art prints for the sorie project

art show prints 2Okay, I’m pretty excited about this, you guys.  My friend Jim contacted me recently to see if I’d be willing to donate some photos for an art show/silent auction that will benefit a boy named Sorie {more on that in a minute}.  I was a little nervous, because as you can imagine, I have tons and tons of “people” photos from portrait sessions and weddings, but not nearly as many “art” photos.  But God must have known this opportunity was coming for me {duh, of course He knew!}, because as soon as I started thinking about what photos I had shot recently, I thought of these three pictured above.  There were taken at different places on two different days for completely different and random reasons, but I like how they each have an arrow, which I think kind of ties them together. :)  Not that they need to be tied together, because I’m guessing they might be auctioned off separately.  But at least I had a good theme to work with, and I always enjoy a good theme. :)

I had them printed on a thick foam art board, and they’re finished with a gorgeous glossy lacquer coating.  I absolutely love how they turned out!  It’s always fun for me to see any of my work in print {because let’s face it, Facebook posts and Instagram have kind of taken the place of printed images, right?}, and it’s especially cool to see these random art prints and know they will go for a good cause.

These photos, along with other art work, will be shown at the Twisted Root Gallery this Friday evening.  There will also be a concert and other fun stuff going on from 7pm to 2am.  All of this is to benefit a boy named Sorie who suffered some severe burns and will need several surgeries as he gets older.  You can check out a video here for the full story: https://vimeo.com/21277722 {my friends Jim and Emily are pretty awesome, huh?!}.

Click here to view the Facebook event page, and please consider coming by this Friday night!  And if you can’t make it on Friday but you’d like to help Sorie out, here’s a link where you can donate!
